Toothaches can be caused by a number of different reasons, sometimes requiring a visit to the dental office.
The most common reason is a cavity - it can cause sensitivity when it's large and/or deep, hitting close to the nerve. Other reasons may include: infection or it could be sensitivity due to gum recession or worn enamel.
